Frequently Asked questions
What menu will I receive for my event?
Your Personal Chef will create a fully customized menu once your reservation is confirmed. Every menu is tailored to your tastes, dietary needs, and event style — no two menus are ever the same. We’re confident you’ll love your chef’s creation, and if not, we’ll work with you until it’s perfect.
Can I choose a specific Personal Chef for my event?
After your booking is confirmed, our matching system reviews your preferences and pairs you with the most suitable chefs available in your area. You’ll receive a selection of chef profiles to choose from whenever possible.
During peak periods or last-minute bookings, a chef may be assigned directly to ensure your event is fully supported.
How does booking a Personal Chef work?
After you reserve your event online, you’ll receive a Booking Confirmation with your order details and next steps. You’ll then complete a short form with your dietary needs, food preferences, and event details.
From there, our system matches you with the best-suited chef, who will design a customized menu specifically for your event.
Do you have chefs available for my event?
Yes — and if for any reason we cannot assign a chef for your date, you will receive a full refund. We maintain a nationwide network of vetted Personal Chefs, giving us strong coverage across multiple cuisines, locations, and event styles.
What do I need to prepare for my event?
Please clear 1–2 shelves in your refrigerator and make some counter space available. When your chef arrives, they will need a brief walkthrough of your kitchen and dining area.
If your booking does not include waitstaff, you may need to set the table and provide your own plates, glassware, cutlery, and serving pieces.
What time does the chef arrive on the day?
Your Personal Chef will arrive approximately 1.5 hours before the scheduled mealtime with all the ingredients needed and will begin preparing your dishes right away.
If you’ve also booked waitstaff or bartenders, they will arrive separately.
Once service is complete, the team will clean the kitchen and event area, leaving the space spotless for you to enjoy the rest of your celebration.
What is Brazilian Churrasco?
The word churrasco means grilled beef, but it’s often used in reference to a Brazilian style of barbecue. In this food experience, your private chef will grill different cuts of meat on a long skewer and then freshly carve and serve the meats at your table, straight to your plate. Sit and watch as your personal chef first places the long skewers above an open pit and rotates them to get that perfect golden crust. Your mouth will be watering as your eyes take in the sights and your nose picks up the smoky smell of the grill.
After grilling, the meat will be dripping with fat, seared golden from the outside, but soft and tender on the inside. This cooking method means your chef can serve you rare, medium, and well-done slices carved from the same piece of meat. As part of a traditional Brazilian churrasco experience, you’ll typically be served beef in a variety of special Brazilian cuts, sausages, lamb, and ribs, though the specific cuts and types of meat served are up to you. A full experience will even come with special sides like fried polenta, banana, potato salad, and cheese bread – absolutely delicious!
Brazilian barbecue meats are also served with a side of chimichurri. This fragrant sauce is made from a combination of parsley, garlic, oil, and vinegar, adding the perfect acidity and flavour to balance the meat’s smokiness.
When should you order Brazilian churrasco?
This is the perfect experience when you want to sit down, enjoy yourself with family and friends, and slowly be served bits and pieces of meat as they come off the rotisserie. Your chef will take turns between grilling and serving different meats, and you’ll just have to sit back and enjoy what’s coming to you. In the meantime, you and your fellow diners can snack away at the sides, which are arguably just as delicious as the tender smoky meats.
If you have a few hours to spend on dining, want something casual but still impressive, and ready to immerse yourself in an interactive eating experience, then choose Brazilian churrasco. Perfect for birthdays, graduations, big gatherings, reunions, relaxed team lunches, and outdoor events of any kind.
What is American BBQ?
An American BBQ typically refers to a ‘low n slow’ method of cooking. This means meats are grilled over low heat in a charcoal smoke-filled chamber, taking anywhere from 4-24 hours to cook. Of course, your chef won’t be there for 24 hours, but the meats can be delivered piping hot and ready to eat, or cooked fresh at your event over the course of several hours.
The most popular meats served at an American BBQ are sticky ribs, whole hog, pork shoulder, and beef brisket. Of course, the choice of meats and cuts are up to you, though we can always advise on what’s best for your tastes and event. Before cooking, the meats are often rubbed with an American spice rub, usually flavoured with various spices including cayenne, jerk seasoning, brown sugar, smoked paprika, and garlic or onion powder. After hours of cooking, the meat is tender, juicy, and easily pulled apart with your fingers.
American BBQ experiences are as much about the sauces and sides as they are about the meats being served. Indulge in hearty Americana side dishes like mac & cheese, baked beans, collard greens, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and potato salad. When it comes to sauces, you can’t have an American BBQ with an authentic BBQ sauce.
When to order the American BBQ experience?
American BBQ is perfect for a casual, outdoor event with friends and family. The more the merrier, so you can all indulge in the hearty sides and meat that’s going around. Don’t order the American BBQ if you want to stay clean and neat – this isn’t an experience for formal dining but one to get messy, sticky, and so full you can barely move afterwards!
Since the American BBQ experience can require some time, it’s best suited for events that last half a day or longer. Your chef can come and set up the smoker early, adding to the atmosphere of your event with the aromas of an amazing barbecue waiting to happen. If you don’t have time but want the American BBQ experience, we can also cook the meat beforehand and deliver it piping hot and ready to eat.
What is Japanese yakiniku / robata grill / yakitori BBQ?
Yakiniku is a type of Japanese barbecue where bite-sized meats are cooked on a griddle over a charcoal flame. It is somewhat similar to a Korean BBQ experience but made with Japanese flavours and sauces (usually soy or miso-based sauces). With our yakiniku / yakitori / robata experience, you’ll be served pre-marinated meats and raw vegetables that are then cooked over a charcoal flame – it’s all part of the experience and whoever does the cooking is up to you! Nominate a member of your dinner party or let your private chef take care of it all while you socialise and enjoy the meal.
The most popular cuts of meat cooked in a Japanese yakiniku are beef loin, chuck, short ribs, and tongue. You can also cook pork belly, chicken, and seafood. The choice is up to you! We typically serve a plate of raw vegetables that you can grill to perfection for that lip-smacking smoky taste. Again, the exact ingredients can be up to you but a traditional yakiniku will be served with shiitake, onions, cabbage, eggplant, capsicum, and carrot.
