Fine dining, wherever you’re hosting in Austin.

Private Chef Austin

CHEFIN is a private chef service connecting you with vetted chefs in Austin, TX and across the Hill Country. Your chef plans the menu, brings the ingredients, cooks on the night and leaves the kitchen the way they found it. That can be a house in Tarrytown, a rental off South Congress, an office in the Domain, or a lake house out at Travis. You pick the dining style. We find the chef whose cooking suits your menu, your dietary needs and the occasion, then you and your chef shape the menu together. A concierge stays with it from the first call to the last plate cleared, so the dining experience runs without you managing it.

Cocktail and canapé packages start from $65 a head, three-course fine dining from $195, tax included. A private chef or a personal chef in Austin is the same call here: tell us the night and we match you. Finding a good chef in Austin is the easy part. What sits behind them is the rest of it.

Amazing. Great food. Chat. Relax & have fun. No stress!

Private chef for a bachelorette weekend in Austin

A bachelorette party is the booking Austin gets more than anywhere else. A rented house in East Austin or off South Congress, ten to fifteen people in from out of town, a weekend that is already full of things to organize, and a Saturday night nobody wants to spend cooking or arguing about a restaurant that will not seat a group that size.

A chef comes to the house. You choose the format: canapés and cocktails while people are getting ready, a long shared table, or a proper multi-course dinner. Your chef works with the kitchen that is there, brings the ingredients, cooks, serves and cleans up. Nobody is on dish duty and nobody is negotiating a bill at the end. It is a private dinner built to impress the group without anyone in it doing the work.

Book early. Austin bachelorette season runs hardest in spring, and the good chefs go first. Give the concierge the date, the house address and the guest count, and mention any dietary needs in the group — there is almost always at least one, and it is easier to plan around than to work around on the night.

Private chef experiences for every occasion in Austin

Austin books a private chef when the evening matters more than the venue, and when a restaurant would handle it badly.

  • Bachelorette and bachelor weekends: the most common Austin booking, usually ten to fifteen in a rented house.
  • Milestone birthdays: a birthday dinner that has outgrown a restaurant table.
  • Dinner parties: six to twelve around one table, the classic booking.
  • Corporate gatherings: client dinners and team events, from the Domain to a Zilker back yard.
  • Anniversaries and proposals: an intimate dinner or tasting menu for two.
  • Holiday hosting: Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year, cooked in your own kitchen.
  • Lake and Hill Country weekends: chefs travelling out to Lake Travis, Dripping Springs and Fredericksburg.
  • Game days and festival weekends: a house full of people who would rather not queue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find a personal chef in Austin?

Through CHEFIN. Tell the concierge your date, where you are, how many are coming and what the evening is for, and we come back with chefs who are free and whose cooking suits it. Every chef has been screened before you see them, so you are choosing between good options rather than gambling on a stranger.

How much does it usually cost to have a private chef?

Across the United States, a private chef for an event usually runs between $100 and $300 per person, depending on the number of courses, the size of the group and the city. Through CHEFIN, cocktail and canapé packages start from $65 a head, three-course fine dining from $195, and five-course from $245, tax included. What moves the number most is the dining style, not the zip code.

How much does it cost to hire a private chef for a week for a group?

For a bachelorette weekend or a multi-day stay, most groups book one or two dinners rather than every meal, and the cost is still per person per event. A group of twelve doing one three-course dinner is a different number to the same group doing three nights. Give the concierge the dates and the guest count and we will price the actual plan rather than a hypothetical week.

Is there a difference between a private chef and a personal chef?

A private chef is booked for one occasion and cooks and serves on the day. A personal chef visits regularly to prepare meals for a household through the week. CHEFIN provides both in Austin. A third arrangement, employing a full-time chef on salary, runs well into six figures a year here and is a different service again — tell the concierge which you are after.

Does a private chef cook at my house, or bring food in?

Your chef cooks on site. They work with the kitchen that is there, bring the ingredients, and cook and plate everything fresh. Nothing arrives pre-made in trays. If the kitchen is small or the rental is short on equipment, tell the concierge and your chef plans the menu around it.

Can a private chef in Austin accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes. Dietary restrictions are collected at booking and the menu is built around them: gluten-free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan, keto, halal, kosher-style and specific allergies. With a group there is almost always at least one, so send them all through at once and your chef designs a single menu that works for the table. Flag severe allergies explicitly so cross-contamination can be managed.

Do private chefs clean up afterwards?

Yes. Every CHEFIN booking in Austin includes full cleanup of the kitchen and dining area, and your chef leaves the space as they found it. That matters more than usual in a rental you would rather get the deposit back on.

How far in advance should I book a private chef in Austin?

Two to three weeks is comfortable for most dates. Spring bachelorette weekends, the January and March peaks, and holiday dates go earlier — three to four weeks is safer. Last-minute booking is often possible, but the chef selection is narrower.

Private dining in Austin, on your terms

Private dining in Austin usually means a restaurant back room, a minimum spend and a set menu somebody else wrote. A private chef gives you the same polish at your own table: a menu built for your guests, plated and served, in a space that is yours for the evening. It suits the gatherings restaurants handle awkwardly: a group of fourteen, a table that wants to talk without a room turning over, a celebration that runs past the second seating. This is where a private chef service earns its keep, and where our chefs in Austin do most of their work.

It scales both ways. A tasting menu for two on a Tarrytown patio, a long shared table for a birthday in East Austin, canapés and a bar for a house full of people. You set the guest list and the brief; the chef builds the menu and runs the evening. It is restaurant-quality hospitality at your own dinner table, in-home and on your schedule.

Cooking in Austin: cuisines, seasons and Texas produce

The culinary range in Austin is wider than its reputation suggests. Live-fire and smoke are the obvious strength — several of our chefs came up cooking over wood and will happily take over a smoker or a grill if the house has one. But the city also runs on serious Mexican and Tex-Mex, Gulf seafood, Vietnamese, Indian and a strong vegetable-forward scene. Our chefs cover more than twenty cuisines between them, and several specialize in one deeply rather than spreading thin, which is how you get a genuinely delicious meal instead of a gourmet-sounding one.

Texas supplies more than beef.
Gulf shrimp and redfish come up from the coast, Hill Country peaches out of Fredericksburg through summer, pecans in the fall, goat cheese and olive oil from the Hill Country, and heirloom corn for masa milled locally. Texas Wagyu is genuinely good and worth the plate, and chefs shop the freshest of it the morning of your event rather than working from a fixed list.

The seasons run the opposite way to most places.
The best hosting months here are the ones most cities skip. Winter is mild and the peak entertaining season; spring and fall are ideal for anything outdoors; and July and August are for the pool, the shade and food that does not need a hot kitchen. Menus follow that, and so does availability.

Wine pairings come from an hour west.
The Texas Hill Country is one of the largest AVAs in the country, and its Tempranillo, Mourvèdre and Viognier hold up on a table. A chef pairing locally in Austin is not making do.

The kitchens vary more than you would expect.
Austin runs on bungalows with small kitchens, new builds with islands the size of a dining table, rentals with whatever the owner left behind, and lake houses built for entertaining. Tell your concierge which one you have, and mention the grill or smoker if there is one.
